Scholarships

College scholarships are provided to qualifying students graduating from Hoover High School, the Aaron Price Fellows Program and City Heights residents attending San Diego State University.

SDSU Price Community Scholars Program

Two cohorts of 15 students each from City Heights attending San Diego State University participate in a leadership/academic program to prepare Wilson and Clark middle school students for college. The program provides a maximum scholarship of $7,500 per year for SDSU students as they mentor three middle school students each from 7th through the 10th grade. Activities include service projects, cultural enrichment field trips, and academic tutoring. Please contact the program administrator, SDSU Student Affairs, for more information.

The Effron Scholarship Program

The Effron Scholarship Program at Hoover High School was established in memory of Helen and Sol Price’s nephew, Stephen Effron, who had attended Hoover High School. Scholarship applicants are eligible for either a $20,000 maximum scholarship to a four year college or university funded at $4,000 per year for five years or $2,000 for a two year scholarship to a community college, trade or vocational school. Only current Hoover High students are eligible. Please visit the counseling office to obtain an application.

Jesus Morales Scholarships

The Jesus Morales Memorial Scholarship Program at Hoover High School provides scholarships to Hispanic students for either four year universities or community colleges. Only current Hoover High students are eligible. Please visit the counseling office to obtain an application.

Aaron Price Fellows Scholarships

Aaron Price Fellows Scholarships are awarded to Aaron Price Fellows based on community service performed during their senior year of high school. Scholarships may be applied to either a four year college or university or to a community college. Only Aaron Price Fellows are eligible.

The Goldberg Scholarship Program

The Joseph and Dorothy Goldberg Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students at Crawford High School in City Heights. Scholarship applicants are eligible for either a $20,000 maximum scholarship to a four year college or university funded at $4,000 per year for five years or $2,000 for a two year scholarship to a community college, trade or vocational school. Only current Crawford High students are eligible. Please visit the counseling office to obtain an application.
