Health and Human Services
Parent Centers serve as a resource hub of information and services to help parents become engaged in their child’s education and well being. Parent Centers are located at Rosa Parks Elementary, Monroe Clark Middle, and Hoover High schools.
Programming consist of: relationship building, advocacy, parent outreach, home visits, communication with parents and teachers through interpretation services, facilitation and interpretation of large meetings with principals and other school staff, resource development and referrals, parent workshops, volunteer opportunities, and special events.
Parent Centers have three core areas: (1) Awareness on how to navigate the school system and connect teachers, parents and school staff; (2) Skill building for parents to learn how to advocate for their children; (3) Connect families to needed services to ensure their child’s academic success.
Parent Centers are aligning their work with College Avenue Compact, a City Heights Educational Collaborative program, to ensure that students reach the academic milestones and requirements to be eligible for college and university admittance.
