Success For Life
Success for Life initially began at Rosa Parks Elementary School and branched out to Hamilton, Edison, Joyner, Central and Normal Heights Elementary Schools. The program hosted workshops to teach parents learning activities that could be used at home to reinforce curriculum taught at school.
Parent workshops were held every trimester throughout the school year for kindergarten and first grade parents. The books and educational materials received at the workshops coincided with the curriculum taught in the classrooms. The teachers at each school worked closely with the Success for Life staff to follow the district curriculum pacing guides for the workshop activities throughout the year.
Price Philanthropies administration of the program ended in 2012 because of the difficulty demonstrating the program was producing the desired results. However, three of the schools: Joyner, Central and Normal Heights, institutionalized the program and have continued to present workshops for kindergarten parents.back to top
